BREAKING NEWS: Funding announcement for Solar Homes program

Good Morning,
The news we have all been waiting for: this morning Lily D’Ambrosio has announced further funding for the Victorian Solar Homes program, which will mean over 9,000 rebates will be made available in September to help reduce the pent-up demand and get our industry back to work.
The Minister announced the that the funding for the program would be increased by a further $53 million for the 2019/20 financial year, bringing the total rebates for the year from 40,000 to 63,000, which should help many installers across the state to get back on the tools. Approximately 6,500 rebates will be made available on 2 September and a further 3,250 available 16 September, which should remove some of the backlog created over the last few months.
The monthly allocations of solar rebates will also move from monthly to fortnightly allocation, which should help ensure there is a more consistent supply of work across the month.
The announcement also comes with increased safety, quality and fraud prevention measures attached. The program will now support the establishment of a public register for solar retailers, with unsafe and unscrupulous installers removed from the program and named on the register, as well as, more audit staff, and increased small business mentoring and workforce training for installers. The Minister also announced that the Solar Victoria web portal will be streamlined and improved to make it simpler for households to apply for a rebate.
We are still awaiting details and will update you as soon as they come to light.
We know that the last few months have been incredibly tough, and we have been working extremely hard to get this change in place to ease the burden. Thank you to all of you who got involved in the campaign, we could not have done this without your support.
