An Inverter Company That Moved Into Storage Early
Founded in 2010, GoodWe has shipped well over 90 GW of solar inverters and storage systems worldwide and supplies more than 100 countries. In Australia they have been one of the most-installed inverter brands for the best part of a decade, which is a large installed base of hardware that Australian sparkies already know how to commission and service.
The ESA is their answer to the one-box-on-the-wall question. Same inverter engineering, repackaged so the battery, the hybrid inverter and the backup switching arrive pre-wired in a single cabinet. Warranty and service are handled in Australia, so a support call does not get routed through three time zones.
The Single-Phase ESA: What Makes It Different
The 3 to 10 kW single-phase ESA suits most Sydney homes. Start with one module and add capacity later without replacing the cabinet.
One box, one warranty
Hybrid inverter and LFP battery arrive pre-wired in a single enclosure. Fewer components on the wall and one number to call.
Mix module sizes
5.12, 6.0, 8.32 and 9.0 kWh modules can be mixed in one stack, up to six modules and roughly 48 kWh.
UPS-grade backup
Changeover measured in milliseconds, so a modem or a medical device does not drop out when the grid does.
IP66 outdoor rated
A step above the IP65 most wall batteries carry. It can go on an external wall when indoor space is tight.

GoodWe batteries are on the approved equipment list for the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program, so the discount is applied at the point of sale and we do the paperwork. Since 1 May 2026 it has been tiered by battery size, which matters on a platform that scales as far as the ESA does.
- First 14 kWh Full rate, about $272 per usable kWh
- 14 to 28 kWh 60% of the full rate
- 28 to 50 kWh 15% of the full rate
Past 50kWh there is no further rebate, so on a large three-phase ESA the last modules are priced on their own merits. Your installation date sets the rate, not the date you sign. Figures correct as of June 2026, and the rate now steps down every six months, each January and July, through to the end of 2030.
What to Expect From Our Installation
- Bills before recommendations: We request up to 12 months of your usage data and size the module count to your evening load, not a generic 10 kWh suggestion
- Compatibility assessment first: We check your switchboard, existing inverter, available and compliant site space, and grid connection before quoting, so there are no surprises on the day
- Blackout circuit wired correctly: Not all installers set up back-up circuits. We explain the product limitations to you and what to expect, then we connect it with a changeover switch to protect your place
- Licensed, insured, AS/NZS 5139 compliant: All battery work completed under Electrical Contractor Licence #306412C
- Monitoring set up by GoodWe: After installation, GoodWe themselves send you the login details to your app so you can monitor your system

GoodWe ESA FAQs
- What is the GoodWe ESA?
- ESA stands for Energy Storage All-in-one. GoodWe put the hybrid inverter, the LFP battery modules, the UPS backup and the battery management system inside a single pre-wired cabinet. That means one box on the wall instead of three, one commissioning process, and one warranty covering the lot.
- Can I add a GoodWe ESA to my existing solar system?
- In most cases yes. Because the ESA has a hybrid inverter built in, it can take over from an ageing string inverter and add storage in the same visit. We assess your panels, switchboard and grid connection at quote stage and confirm compatibility before you commit to anything.
- How much capacity do I actually need?
- For most Sydney households, 10 to 15 kWh covers overnight usage with daytime solar topping the battery up again. The ESA takes 5.12, 6.0, 8.32 and 9.0 kWh modules, so we can land close to your real number rather than rounding up to the next stock size. We size the recommendation against 12 months of your consumption data.
- Will the GoodWe ESA keep my power on during a blackout?
- Yes. The ESA includes UPS-grade backup with a changeover measured in milliseconds, so sensitive gear like a modem or a medical device rides through without dropping out. We wire a dedicated essential-loads circuit during installation and test the changeover before we hand over.
- Is the GoodWe ESA eligible for the federal battery rebate?
- GoodWe batteries are on the approved equipment list for the federal Cheaper Home Batteries Program, so the discount is applied straight to your quote rather than claimed back later. Since 1 May 2026 it is tiered by size: the full rate on the first 14 kWh, 60% of it from 14 to 28 kWh, and 15% from 28 to 50 kWh, with nothing above that. Your installation date sets the rate, not the date you sign. We handle the paperwork. Call 1300 797 630 for the current position at the time of your enquiry.
- Can the ESA be installed outdoors?
- Yes. The cabinet is IP66 rated, which is a step above the IP65 most wall-mounted batteries carry. If your garage is full or there is no suitable indoor wall, the ESA can go on an external wall. We still site it out of direct afternoon sun where we can, because heat is what shortens a battery life.
- Why choose GoodWe?
- GoodWe has been one of the most-installed inverter brands in Australia for years, and the ESA is where that inverter engineering meets storage. Warranty and service are handled in Australia, so a support call is not routed through three time zones. It is our pick for homes where the inverter is already due for replacement, because you solve both problems in one install.
- How long does installation take?
- A standard GoodWe ESA installation takes one day. We handle the grid notification paperwork, commissioning, and the SEMS Portal app setup before we leave.
